1977 It was one of those magical years in my life. It was when Hemmingway's 'A Moveable Feast' met with the most fortuitous chain of events imagineable for a photographer. It was my first year as a staff photographer for the Associated Press Paris Bureau. I was the only American photographer on permanent assignment abroad at the time. Nurtured by the Paris photo chief, Michael O'Reilly Nash, I found myself often in the right place at the right time. The AP gave me four raises in my first year. With 8 weeks paid vacation (the French vacation schedule, you see) and momentous stories unfolding before me, I didn't know how good I had it. Here are some of my favorite moments from 1977.
